Jill Gallagher AO, the Treaty Advancement Commissioner, has released details of community gatherings in north-west Victoria next month.
"I want to hear the Aboriginal community's aspirations for treaty or treaties," said the Commissioner.
"My job is not to negotiate treaty; my job is to lay the groundwork for the next phase of the process," she said.
At the gatherings, the Commissioner can explain details about the treaty process, including the Aboriginal Representative Body, which will set the 'ground rules' for negotiations.
"We in Victoria are closer to treaty than we've ever been before," said Ms Gallagher.
